2010 World Masters Games

At the World Masters Games we have a number of Squash Club members competing in the games:

Congratulations to Sarah Nelson, who won a silver medal, just narrowly losing to former World No 1 Sarah Fitzgerald. (Our) Sarah has previously won a World Title at the 2009 World Masters Squash Championships in Christchurch and earlier this year won the Australian title in her age group. Howzat!! Pressure's on to win the world title again in Cologne, Germany next year. Go girl!
Other competitors in the World Masters Games were Gary Cowan, Steven Creak, Gary McIntyre and Christine McIntyre, pictured at the Opening Ceremony, and Jim Marinos who was present at the Opening Ceremony but was with the Athletics team. Apart from competing in squash, Jim also competed in the 100m sprints, long jump and touch football. It would be fair to say that Jim is probably the fittest person in the Squash Club! Lorraine Madden competed in sailing and Rex Rackyleft competed in swimming. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the event.

We have several players from our club intending to travel to Cologne, Germany, in August next year to compete in the 2010 World Masters Squash Titles. These are fantastic tournaments and you are guaranteed of having a very good time with lots of functions organised for competitors. Players of any standard are welcome. A long way to go to hit squash balls but well worth it! There are moves afoot by the Australian Masters Association to subsidise Australian gear so if any of you are interested in maybe going, please contact Christine McIntyre on 9584 2959 or gjmcintyre@bigpond.com.au .

Edgar Aboud's 80th Birthday Party

Thank you to all those who attended Edgar s very special evening at the Dynasty Chinese Restaurant on 7 November. The night was a lovely occasion with good food, good company and lots of fun. Edgar would like to extend his thanks too he was surprised and truly delighted that so many people attended his night. It meant a great deal to him. The photo says a lot.

Summer Competition

We will once again run the summer competition over the holiday break commencing week of 11 January 2010
with finals being played week commencing 25 January 2010.
For all our newer pennant players, this is a very sociable competition and a good way to meet other members of the Squash Club. Also it s a good way to work off Christmas over indulgences.

2010 Midweek, Masters & Daytime Competition
Selections for Midweek, Masters and Daytime Competitions will take place on 10 January 2010.
And yes, we think it is way too early as well but teams are required to be in NSW Squash s hands in January.
For the benefit of our newer players, teams selections are forwarded to players by email and teams are placed
on the notice board at squash as well. You will have 5 days in which to lodge in writing any objections to team
selections, clearly setting out reasons, to Club Captain Kerrie Lynch. Kerrie considers all objections and may
recall selectors to re-select.
No players will be selected if their annual subscription and pennant fees have not been paid. This
applies to all competitions.
NAMES FOR SUMMER COMPETITION AND ALL PENNANT COMPETITIONS TO BE ADDED TO NOTICES ON THE

NOTICE BOARD OR EMAILED TO KERRIE LYNCH kerrielynchmob@bigpond.com.

Fee Structure for 2010
At our November meeting, the Committee felt it is not necessary to alter our fees. Therefore they will remain as they have for the past few years:

Just a reminder that when we commit to playing competition squash, we also commit to certain rules. They are:

Annual Presentation Party

Something to keep in mind: Our Annual Presentation Party will be held on Saturday, 7 February 2010.

Last year we changed the function to a family afternoon/evening party at Gary & Christine McIntyre s house at
15 Tallowood Avenue, Lugarno. The day proved to be very successful with both children and adults having a
great family day so we are having a repeat performance next year. All food provided but BYO drinks,
swimmers and towels. More details later.
