World Masters News
The World Masters has now finished in Cologne, Germany.
The defending over 40s champ, the Bulldogs own Sarah Nelson, was unfortunately defeated by a German woman named Simone Korell.
Simone went on to win the title, despite being seeded 4th in the comp.
Sarah won the playoff to grab 3rd position in the final result ladder.
Other Bulldogs players at the comp were Christine McIntyre and Ilja Kopecny.
Christine managed to take 6th position in her age group, thus cementing her position amongst the top echelon of squash mums with, ummm, 2 generations of siblings.
Good onya Christine!
Ilja, alas, could not win a match in his division. I'm sure he enjoyed the competition, though. And the German beer. Can't forget that.
Australian players Geoffrey Davenport and Vicky Cardwell won their respective divisions.
Geoff now has four World Masters titles, equalling the record set by an Australian great, Heather McKay.
Hopefully he can break the record the next time the World Masters is held.

Sorry for taking so long to put this up.
Been away on holidays, so I really didn't have much of a chance before now.
Anyway, the Club Championships are progressing nicely, with the Grand Finals this Thursday.
Below are links to the different grades, the draws for those grades, and who has won so far.
Results are as I last noted them down from the board.

Autumn 2010 Pennant Grand Finals
All finals scores are (finally) in.
The Engadine courts took their time putting the results into the Matrix.
The result is ... the Womens Div1 team and Mens Div 7 team won.
Congratulations to those teams!
Alas, the rest of our grand finalists lost.
The Div 4 guys were missing their number 1 player due to injury, so it was a tough night for them.
They could only win one of their matches.
Div 11 men, who I thought were going to be easy winners, ended up losing on points.
Lastly, Div 12 guys lost with only one match won.
Bad luck to the Div 11 team.
It was so close, could have gone either way.
Well done to the two teams that won.
You've kept the club pride intact.
So, the battle of the sexes petered out to a draw this season.
It wasn't looking good for the women at one stage, but they've held true and the draw is the result.
Can't wait for next season.
Who knows what will happen!
Autumn 2010 Pennant Grand Finals
Our top mens side crashed out of finals contention in the semis.
The Bodyhealth team they played against were too strong in the higher positions, and won two matches without us getting a game.
There's no recovering from that.
The good news is that our other two semi-finalists made it through to the grand finals.
Sarah Nelson's Div 4 team had a resounding win themselves, winning half their matches 3-nil.
Farrukh Khan's Div 12 team played things a little closer to the line, winning the night by one game.
So, that puts five bulldog teams into the grand finals.
That's close to half our team total!
Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.
Now let's go support our teams, and see how many we can convert.
As you can see from the timetable below, we've got three teams playing on the Bulldogs courts.
What a great way to spend an evening, supporting your club's teams in the excellent facilities we have.

Autumn 2010 Pennant Semi Finals
At the end of the last season, the Bulldog women showed the guys how to win a pennant.
Looks like the guys have learnt their lesson.
We've got two men's teams straight into the grand finals, and another three into the semis.
Well done guys.
Good to see the positive rebound.
The Div 7 and Div 11 guys have romped their way into the grand finals.
Followed closely by Div 3, Div 4, and Div 12, who contend the semi finals this week.
Our Div 1 women's team also made it straight into the grand finals.
Alas, they're the only female side to reach the top 3 in their division.
Sorry girls, this season belongs to the guys.
As usual, our teams would love to have your support.
You can find them at the following locations, at the following times.
